Excavation & earthwork analysis
Support excavation planning and progress discussions with a current aerial record. Where suitable control, reference surfaces and professional review are available, we can scope surface comparisons and estimated cut/fill analysis with your project team.
Understand what changed on site.
A defined capture and comparison scope that matches the decision and its required level of validation.
Where it helps
- Excavation progress documentation
- Visible spoil and material stockpile estimates
- Surface-to-surface comparison support
- Visible demolition debris volume estimates
Your deliverables
- Dated site imagery and capture coverage notes
- Surface model exports where validated and agreed
- Scoped cut/fill comparison against approved reference data
- Assumptions, exclusions and professional-review requirements
Final formats, coverage and review requirements are confirmed in your proposal.
From brief to report
Review the reference data
Identify the baseline or design surface, coordinate system, vertical datum and responsible surveyor or engineer. Confirm whether the available data can support the requested comparison.
Scope capture and checks
Agree on ground control, independent checks, visible areas and handoff formats. Coordinate the timing with grading and material movement.
Compare with professional review
Use compatible validated surfaces and document exclusions. The responsible professional reviews suitability before results are used for regulated design, certification or contractual acceptance.
Scope and review requirements
Cut/fill analysis is conditional on suitable reference data and professional validation; it is not an unconditional in-house surveying or engineering service. No boundary, certified elevation, engineering design or payment certification is offered through ordinary aerial capture. Visible debris volume excludes hidden cavities and buried material; it does not identify hazardous materials or establish disposal weight.
Tell us about the site.
Send the site location, intended use, existing survey or design surface, required coordinate system and project professional’s contact. We confirm feasibility before including analysis in a proposal.

Before we fly
Can you calculate cut/fill without a baseline?
A meaningful comparison needs a defined reference. A design surface or validated earlier surface may be suitable. Without one, we can discuss visual documentation or a new baseline, not invent the previous ground.
Can this be used for payment quantities?
Only if the contract’s measurement method, validation and professional acceptance requirements are satisfied. We establish those requirements before agreeing to any such scope.
